 The HAWTHORN - Durban South Africa

Situauated East off Durban Harbour the Hawthorn is dived through the Durban Undersea Club for     around R 70.00 using Stewart Donkin from Marlin Marine on a 8m Duck. 

The wreck is populated with the usual Goldies and Dominos and has visits from many species. The average visibility that I have experienced is around 10m to 20m. The wreck is so full of life and I have found that holding onto the outside of the wreck and simply observing the life, I see so much more than when finning around.

The Bass featured above had excellent colouring and was quite possessive over the wreck. I seemed that the bridge was his home. He did'nt mind Rob & Sharon so much because they were less active than myself with my housing and lights. This Dive is certainly worth adding to your Log Book. Fish = Goldies, Wrasses, Juvenile and Adult Angels, Coral Rockcods, Sand Sharks, the passing Mantas, Turtles, Boxfish, Paperfish, Razors, Trumpets ect.....
