T-BARGE / Virginia Beach - Durban South Africa

Situated North off Durban Harbour and parallel to the Virginia Ariport T-Barge is dived through the Durban Undersea Club contact Sharon at 3681199 for around R 70.00 using Stewart Donkin from Marlin Marine on a 8m Duck contact Number  082 484 7663. The Barge was sank by the authorities in conjunction with ORI around 1980 and as seen by the structure in the stills taken from the video the crane beams are teeming with marine life.

The Video was taken with approximately 25m Vis. I have Dived the Barge maybe 50 Dives and have always had a great dive.

The wreck is populated with the usual Goldies and Dominos and has visits from many species. The average visibility that I have experienced is around 10m to 20m. The idea of a guided tour of the wreck is great. Proceed to the sand and scout the crevices under the wreck then move to the Deck - checkout the holds then move under the rigs and observe Juvenile Angels, Wrasse, Butterflys and Rock Cod, species too many to name then move up the rigs spotting Crayfish and Morays.         Both Still and Video photographers will dive her often.

The Striped eel catfish above are a sight. The Goldies and Dominos are a picture to go home with. The Sunlight through the crossed rig presents awsome pictures to dream over. This is usually a comfortable dive with so much entertainment in one half hour you will be pleasently surprised.
